Mail From Madawg!

Some days, Zombie Kitty Kawaii! actually gets more mail than I do. She received this from Madawg  of Pacific Grove, California on Thursday.

All the goodies for ZKK!

Detail of stamped image on the envelope.
Close up of the DKA Post stamps that were included inside.
Backside of the postcard.

No, the last image is not posted sideways by accident. I just loved how the young man is looking at the bunny on his clipboard and thought you might too.
Thank you, Madawg, for sending Zombie Kitty Kawaii! such cool mail art. I know she will really enjoy looking at it when she arrives back home from her travels. Lucky for me, as I get to root through her mail until she does actually arrive home.
Something will be arriving in your mailbox shortly.

Zombie Mini Kawaii! Arrival In Brazil!

Now that was a quick trip. Zombie Mini Kawaii! must have friends, that I don't know about, in the Postal system that got her from Waitpinga, Australia to Campinas - SP - Brazil in under 2 weeks. Exceedingly swift indeed. Anyway, it's time to introduce our Brazilian correspondent, Lilian Mariutti. Here are her photos and report:

"Zombie Mini Kawaii arrived today!!!!!!
The Secret Service and the Health Inspection Department already sent some agents to check on her:"

"She was tired, but she was introduced to some of her new friends:
Bisteca (brown) and Lucrecia (black)"

"The Capybaras (the largest rodents in the world)":
"They seemed friendly, but suddenly they attacked ZMK!!!!!!"

"That was enough for the first day!
Finally, she went to bed protected by Lucrecia :)"

Phew! What an exciting first day for Zombie Mini Kawaii! Those Capybaras are certainly cute enough, but obviously felt their space had been invaded. Lucky for Mini Kawaii! that she has such great new friends in Lucrecia and Bisteca. Now hopefully, "Mini" will behave!

A Mail Art Surprise From Maggie's Phat Kat...

A few posts back, I was promised the "sick bag" from poor Phat Kat's flight to the Canary Islands. I thought Dean might be joking about sending it, but it showed up yesterday. I give credit to my Mail Delivery person for delivering it to me with a straight face.

Another Day...Another Eye Popping Paris Adventure...

...and there is nothing like a bit of last day sightseeing! It looks as if Dean has taken both "Kats" along with him. Brave man. I hope they were well behaved...

"This is the Notre Dame de Paris and a nice day to go out for a walk before leaving to "E"'s house. The famous Point Zero is where all the roads in France were measured from. It is located right in front of the Notre Dame and is Famous because this is where Katerina and I met."
("Katerina", our Thessaloniki  Correspondent-Louise)

"Yes, what an eye popping sight!"

"Sunny day and Phat Kat is happy  hungry."

But, it's not over yet! Dean has included another one of his videos for today's post. And, as always, it has the best soundtrack yet!:

"Zombie Kitty Kawaii! & Phat Kat visit Paris and all it's wonders ... well, not all of them!  After all, this is a children's program ..."

"The time in Paris for these two Kats is coming to an end.  But, it was good while it lasted.  And soon to be off to visit "E", so get ready Mr. E.  How are you gonna keep them down on the farm after they've seen Paris?!"

That is the question all of us are probably wondering...but I don't think this will be the last we hear from our Paris correspondent, Dean...just a feeling I have...

Meanwhile...Back In Paris...

...another video from our now once again Paris Correspondent, Dean! Featuring Zombie Kitty Kawaii! and her traveling companion,  Maggie's PhatKat;

"The Avenue des Champs-Elysees  is one of the most famous streets and one of the most expensive strips of real estate in the world.   Several French monuments are also on the street, including the Arc de Triomphe.  The name is French for Elysian Fields, the place of the blessed dead in Greek mythology. So these Kats fit right in with the rest of the dead beats.   The Avenue des Champs-Elysees is known as "The most beautiful avenue in the world", La plus belle avenue du monde in French.  Enjoy the video!"

(Excellent! I've finally figured out how to embed videos in this blog. Sorry, just blogging out loud again...-Louise)

Of Canaries, Idols and Carpets Made Of Sand...

...not exactly a place I would risk taking Zombie Kitty Kawaii!, because if my memory serves me well from being a cat owner for many years, most litter boxes were very sand-like and therefore...umm...well..you get the idea. Dean, our Canary Islands Correspondent, bravely visited this site:

"In the Spanish town of La Otorava, Tenerife, the festival of Corpus Christi Festival with beautiful themed carpets made from flower petals and colored volcanic sand."
"Do Zombie Kats and birds mix?"
"Several days before the celebration, local families and even design companies draw the carpets on paper, and on the big day, men and children draw the outline on the streets, while women fill the designs with various flower petals. All the locals get involved in this beautiful celebration and create a truly pleasant atmosphere. "

"However, it does leaves some of the locals a bit stiff in the morning, and I think that bird better watch out!"

" Zombie Kat with all the boxes of the different colors of sand ... at least paint brushes are not required!"

" This is what the whole thing looked like last year."

And, if that wasn't enough for you, we present:

The King Kat of Korpus Khristi
"As Corpus Christi this year is not until the 7th of June, the place where they normally have the sand carpet was empty ...

... except for a dead palm branch, so Zombie Kat jumped on it and we had our own parade":

" Let the Zombie Kat parade begin!"

"Those paparazzi are everywhere!"

Well, I was always under the impression that everyone loves a parade. Even if it is a parade of two; Dean and Zombie Kitty Kawaii! But, there don't seem to be many locals about which leads me to believe that maybe they were just not sure what to make of Dean waving a dead palm with a Zombie Kat in it. But, I digress...

...for it's time now for a great new show "Canary Island Idol" featuring Zombie Kitty Kawaii! and our Canary Island Correspondent, Dean:

"Last day on the Canary Islands, and the trip would not be complete unless we visited the World Famous 'Idol of Tara'."
"Don't worry, I had never heard of them either, and I think World Famous means this island only. It's a bit like the World Series of American baseball where they never invite any other country to play."
(Yes, I've always kind of wondered about that myself. Maybe they feel because there is one Canadian baseball team in the American league (The "Toronto Bluejays"), that could constitute it being a World Series. Just a thought. -Louise)

"So, I guess a visit to the Canary Islands would not be complete without seeing a canary, and Zombie Kat has his eye on this one!  But actually, the name Islas Canarias is likely derived from the Latin name Insula Canaria, meaning "Island of the Dogs".  (Sounds less romantic than a bird.)
WOW, maybe an Island of Dogs is not the place for a Kat to be?!! "
"But don't worry, one speculation is that the so-called dogs were actually a species of Monk Seals  (canis marinus or "sea dog" was a Latin term for 'seal'), now critically endangered and no longer present in the Canary Islands."

" So, after one full week, Zombie Kat  got dressed up to have a new passport photo taken, and applied to be a citizen of the Canary Islands... but the application was refused; they found out that the Kat was made of paper, and there would be just too much paper work!  So back to France we go."

A great ending to a great adventure, Dean, even if Zombie Kitty Kawaii! got her citizen application refused. She does look rather spiffy in the local wear, if I do say so myself. It definitely brings out the colour in her eye.

Meanwhile...In The Canary Islands...

So, we're back to the Canary Island adventures with Dean and Zombie Kitty Kawaii! Yes. I know this is running a bit out of order, but how else would we keep you interested, right? Photos and commentary by our Canary Island correspondent (formally, our Paris correspondent), Dean M.:

"Well, as you will remember, we are still in the Canary Islands and today we had some serious tourist work to be done."
" So we headed to a major site called the House of Balconies in the hilly town of La Orotava, on the island of Tenerife (One of the Canary islands)."
" Water stop in the heat of the afternoon, and the ladies have finished repairing Zombie Kat and are now back to making Spanish lace."
(Very kind of them to take the time out to repair Kitty Kawaii! She is certainly looking much more chipper-Louise)

"Zombie Kat making friends with some of the locals."

"Balconies everywhere, on the outside, on the inside, and on some of the shop keepers... "

"...and, as they say in the Canary Islands, where there are grapes ..."

"...there is wine.  But I think they say that everywhere. "

"But they also say, where there is smokes ..."

...there must be hot stuff !  But the fire exhauster is ready this time.
Also, I guess they don't call this place the house of balconies for nothing! "

"I'm not sure where his paw is resting, but the doll on the left has a worried look on her face.  Well, that concludes today's visit, and the shop keepers can now relax as I have left the store!"

What another thoroughly exciting adventure. I guess the shop keepers were just glad that Zombie Kitty Kawaii! didn't spontaneously combust in their store. The "black rocks" story and video must have made the rounds pretty quickly for them to have been so prepared for her visit.

She's Alive! Really!

After getting over the shock of the video, Dean has sent us proof that Zombie Kitty Kawaii! is in fact still among us intact. As he writes:

"So where is Zombie Kat today?  Well here he is looking all fresh and new, but a long way from home."
But our Correspondents from Port Washington (Angie) and Thessaloniki (Katerina) are not convinced by a mere photograph. Katerina writes: "Where is Zombie Kitty Kawaii!? I want photo proof of her existence back in Paris." And, as Angie points out: "Dean, will you please post a pic of ZKK near a current calendar or bank sign with the current date and time or a pic that provides some assurance that she is indeed not burned to a crisp? I'm feeling ... anxious."

Alas, Dean provides more proof of Zombie Kitty Kawaii!'s existence:

"Here she is, this is today. She is being put back together at the Humpty Dumpty Paper Mache factory."
"They say that they are nearly finished and the Kat will be as good as new, except for a few ashes here and there which they can cover up with blush and lipstick.  I will be able to pick up the Kat tomorrow morning just in time for the Friday night fireworks!"
Fireworks, huh? I'm sure Kitty Kawaii! will love that, after her experience on the Hot Rocks of the Canary Islands. At least, those ladies at the Humpty Dumpty Paper Mache factory look as if they know what they're doing. After all, what are a few more stitches on Kitty Kawaii! anyway?

Rebirth for Zombie Kitty Kawaii! indeed!

Black Rocks And Zombie Kats...

I give you fair warning. This next video is not for the feint of heart.  Posted by our now Canary Islands correspondent, Dean:

"The Black Volcanic rocks of the Canary Islands are very hot."
http://youtu.be/b0fDJaa5UfI

Ok. I've been able to finish typing this post, now that I can breathe again. I'm not even going to ask or guess on how that was done, lest we lose the magic of it.

The "Kat" And The Canary Islands...

Ahhh! So that's the mystery adventure Dean had been referring to; an adventure to the Canary Islands! It's a good thing that Zombie Kitty Kawaii!'s passport is all in order. Photos and commentary by our Paris ( Now the Canary Islands correspondent), Dean:

"Today we set out for a nice little walk, and Kat is happy to join us.  But little did Kat know that the walk would be up hill!"
"Blue sky, nice path, but still a long way up to the ridge.  So far Kat is happy."

"Half way to the top, we stop for a rest in the shade, which turned out to be a sticky situation!  Kat is a little less happy."

"Nearly to the top of the ridge and we turned around and the kat had dropped flat as a pancake.  "Come on", I said, "Just a little bit more"  Kat is "Hap" without the "py"."

" It was a tough climb, but in the end the view of the Volcano Mount Teide was worth it.  Kat slept the rest of the day and did not join us for night clubbing."

" Hard day walking, but tomorrow we'll be at the Black sand beaches."

It looks as if Zombie Kitty Kawaii! was a real good sport about that long hike, Dean. I noticed she lost a bit of her tail, but that's to be expected from her. She's always losing bits and pieces of herself, being a Zombie Kitty and all.  She will probably enjoy her time hanging out on the beach; I did mention that she's not a particularly good swimmer, right?

Leaving On A Jet Plane!

Just when Dean thought he could escape "The Kats", well, it turns out that he really couldn't and here is his story:

"So our trip started with a stop in Madrid, Spain.  I liked the labels they put on our suitcases which said MAD ... but how did they know?  I'm sure we will be seeing those labels someday in Mail Art."
" During our travels, I work on bar code cards, cutting them down to size, etc.  It leaves lots of bits about on the airplanes, and I'm sorry for the airline workers who have to clean them up.  But as we were about to land I noticed that they had all been cleaned up.  "Thanks for cleaning that all up", I said to my wife.  "I didn't clean it up"; she replied."
""THE KAT"; we both screamed, but it was too late and the Kat had eaten them all and started being sick, so I grabbed the Kat & a bag just in time."
" But don't worry, I put stamps on the bag and sent it to Canada where it should be arriving shortly."

Hmmm...I wonder who is going to receive the bag of "cat sick"? That couldn't possibly be? DEAN!!!

Zombie Mini Kawaii! Says Farewell to Waitpinga, Australia!

"Mini Kawaii!", as we know, certainly loves a party, especially when that party involves burning stuff! Photos and commentary by our Waitpinga Correspondent, Vizma Bruns:

"The t-shirt I wore for Mini's last day....which started like this."

"An innocent farewell BBQ at a friend's house and somehow Mini ZKK got involved, playing with matches again.
She disappeared for some time and only showed herself when the flames were under control and the burnt meat had cooled down."
(That is quite the flame there! Ummmm... I never realized that she was such a pyromaniac. Maybe she's the former pet of Guy Fawkes...I'll have to ask her about it next time. -Louise)

"Quite a relief that the onus is on Lilian Mariutti to take care of MZKK now!! My work is done!!! Good luck Lilian!! ;-)"

That must have been some send off for  "Mini Kawaii!" I have to admit, her fur (or what's left of it) is looking a bit singed. Hopefully, she will stay away from the matches while she visits Lilian in Brazil! Get ready, Lilian! Hide your matches, lighters and good bottles of wine. Zombie Mini Kawaii! is on her way to you!

Thank you, once again, Vizma, for being such a great host to Zombie Mini Kawaii! and for all the great photos and antics you provided for this blog.

Thhppt. I Am A Painting...

Zombie Kitty Kawaii! has gotten her portrait painted. How splendid!
(Done in "Art Rage" on my iPhone.)
